Week 6 Game of the Week preview: Collins Hill at East Coweta

Our Game of the Week takes us southwest of town to historic Garland-Shoemake Stadium as the Collins Hill Eagles (4-1) travel to East Coweta (4-1). John Small is in his fourth year at East Coweta. The former head man at South Gwinnett has never had a winning season with the Indians, but he’s made it to the second round of the playoffs in two consecutive years.

This week we help kick off Dekalb County’s high school football season with a great rivalry game between Southwest Dekalb and Tucker. We are moments from kickoff at our #high5sports Game of the Week from DeKalb County, where it isn't Week 5 but Week 1 of the high school football season. Southwest DeKalb Head Coach Wimes says it's "definitely different, with first-time Friday night lights in October, but the kids are excited, I'm excited. It's still football."

This week we help kick off Dekalb County’s high school football season with a great rivalry game between Southwest Dekalb and Tucker. Tucker head coach Bryan Lamar was outspoken this summer about playing during the pandemic, but today, "the bottom line is we've got an opportunity to play" and he feels good about it.

Week 5 Game of the Week preview: Southwest Dekalb Panthers vs. Tucker Tigers

Tucker Head Coach Bryan Lamar was outspoken earlier in the summer when he questioned the decision to play football during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dekalb later pushed back the start of their season to October, while most other school systems and private schools started their seasons on Sept. 4. Lamar’s Tigers hope to get back to the finals for the first time since 2016. Lamar has been to two finals, but hasn’t been able to win it all yet.

Our Atlanta Falcons/High 5 Sports Game of the Week was a big one this week: The top-ranked team in 7A, the Grayson Rams, travel across the neighborhood for a game with 10th-ranked Archer.

Week 4 Game of the Week Preview with Grayson head coach Adam Carter

Adam Carter is in his second year with Grayson, and he’s trying to coach the school to their third state championship. Grayson won titles in 2011 and 2016. Wide receiver Daejon Reynolds and running back Phil Mafah are top 50 prospects in the state and are two reasons why the Rams are expected to beat Archer this week. Rams defensive end Noah Collins has committed to play for Georgia Tech.

Game of the Week: Douglass vs. Wesleyan

Our Atlanta Falcons/High 5 Sports Game of the Week led us to Wesleyan, which hosted Douglass. Bill Hartman has the full game story and presented the coveted Golden Hand later on.

Wesleyan vs. Douglass is our first High 5 Game of the Week featuring an Atlanta Public Schools team this season. Wesleyan is 2-0 after winning at home at Robinson Field last week over Mount De Sales from Macon.

After a cancellation of the Allatoona-Denmark game, our Game of the Week brought us to Greater Atlanta Christian after the Spartans opened their season with a 20-0 shutout of Denmark last week. The Spartans hosted Lovett, which was playing in its first game of 2020.
