I-Team: Controversial Douglas County judge must face disciplinary panel Sept. 5

By Randy Travis Published July 10, 2023 DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson must appear Sept. 5 to answer 40 allegations of alleged judicial misconduct. The Hearing Panel for the Judicial Qualifications Commission set the date after rejecting Peterson’s motion to dismiss most of the violations because they happened before she was sworn into office. Peterson originally faced 50 violations, but the JQC earlier agreed to drop 10 because some did take place before Peterson declared her candidacy. The Georgia-based Black Wolf App attracted national attention, prompting the FOX 5 I-Team to look into the company's licensing. LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Kerry KingBrown’s idea certainly seemed innovative: provide armed security guards as rideshare drivers and let customers request a ride through an app just like they would Uber or Lyft. The Georgia-based Black Wolf App attracted national cable news attention earlier this month as well as a story from FOX 5. But KingBrown’s idea is in danger — his own security license has since been terminated — because of a dispute over whether his company is really providing security services. "I just couldn't say no," he told the FOX 5 I-Team. Gov. Brian Kemp asked Miller to take over the chair of the Douglas County Commission in the wake of an alleged bid rigging scandal that has cost—at least temporarily - two Democratic commissioners their jobs. Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Commissioner Henry Mitchell and three others are accused of illegally steering a cleaning contract to a political supporter who lived in Mitchell’s district.
