About one in 10 women of childbearing pain experience endometriosis, a painful gynecologic disease in which tissue similar to the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pelvic pain, cramping and heavy periods. Sophie Allred and her mother Lindsay both underwent a relatively new laparascopic procedure, known as LAPEX, to remove their endometriosis lesions.
