New Georgia Project faces more turmoil
Troubles just keep piling up the New Georgia Project, a nonprofit founded more than a decade ago by former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who left the organization before she ran for governor the first time. Last month, the State Ethics Commission slapped a record-setting ethics fine on the organization. That came between two rounds of layoffs. Now the group faces a federal labor complaint, filed today by the local Teamsters union.
