ATLANTA - February is starting out with milder-than-average temperatures, but that will change noticeably over the next 24 hours. A cold front will swing through late tonight, bringing colder air, gusty winds, and even briefly snow to far north Georgia tonight.
Showers will develop and will be scattered late this afternoon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy to overcast skies will be the rule today.
Light to moderate rain will cover more of our area this evening.
For a couple of hours near midnight, the northern tier of counties across Georgia will see a changeover to snow as colder air moves in. Minor accumulations are possible in the higher elevations, but no big travel impacts are anticipated.
The rain, snow, and even cloud cover will clear out before Friday morning. Friday will bring breezy northwest winds and much colder temperatures. After highs in the upper 50s today, we'll experience highs in the upper 40s Friday.
