Severe weather threat ends across north Georgia
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A second round of Sunday storms in Georgia came to an end late in the evening, with one final Tornado Warning in Morgan, Greene and Oglethorpe counties. No damage was immediately reported after that warning expired.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for much of north Georgia Sunday afternoon, just hours after an earlier line of severe weather brought a few possible tornadoes to parts of north Georgia. Damage from that first round of storms included reports of trees down in Gwinnett, Walton, Paulding, Butts and Lamar counties.
As the storms moved out, cooler weather moved in. Temperatures overnight are forecast to fall into the 40's in metro Atlanta, with relatively strong winds. And high temperatures on Monday will only reach the 60's.
After that, a warmup begins through the rest of the week, with storms possible again by Thursday.
