1 person found dead in burning Fayette County home
TYRONE, Ga. - Investigators in Fayette County are working to determine what caused a deadly fire at a home in Tyrone.
Officials say the fire happened in the 500 block of Laurelwood Drive on Sunday afternoon.
Officers with the Tyrone Police Department were the first to get to the scene and found a home covered with heavy flames and dense smoke.
Crews tried to search the inside of the building for occupants but say the quickly-deteriorating conditions forced them to leave the structure and work to get control over the flames.
After the fire had died down, crews found one person dead inside the home.
The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
