Alabama tractor-trailer driver charged with hit-and-run crash in Gwinnett County

Officers have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer accused of a dangerous hit-and-run crash in Gwinnett County.

Officials say the crash happened on Jan. 28 near Venture Parkway and the Interstate 85 overpass on Pleasant Hill Road.

What we know:

According to police, when the tractor-trailer attempted to change lanes and hit a silver passenger car getting off the overpass.

The crash caused the car to spin in front of the truck, and police say the tractor-trailer pushed the car through two intersections before stopping.

The tractor-trailer reportedly drove off from the scene before police arrived.

Thankfully, officials say the driver of the car was not injured.

After a short investigation, the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit was able to find the tractor-trailer and identify the driver as 31-year-old Christian Barrier of Alabama. 

Barrier turned himself into the Gwinnett County Jail on Friday. He is charged with hit-and-run, improper lane change, reckless driving and reckless conduct.
