Atlanta woman faces charges after attacking Rooms To Go employee, police say

Deanna Sinai Mills (Gwinnett County Police Department)

An Atlanta woman is facing assault and kidnapping charges after police say she attacked a Gwinnett County Rooms To Go employee.

Officials with the Gwinnett County Police Department say their investigation began on Dec. 14 when officers responded to a call at the Rooms To Go on Dawson Boulevard.

One of the furniture store's employees called 911 and told the operator that a woman had begun throwing items around the store and attacked him with a lanyard.

The victim gave police the license plate number of the suspect's vehicle, and officers used Flock cameras to spot the vehicle at a nearby Horizon Inn and Suites.

Instead of surrendering in the hotel's parking lot, officials say 32-year-old Deanna Sinai Mills tried to drive off, hitting an officer's vehicle and almost striking an officer trying to give her commands.

The vehicle stopped after a passenger inside the car put the vehicle in park. Police say the two passengers had recently been picked up by Mills and had no connection with the reported attack.

Mills was taken into custody and booked at the Gwinnett County Jail.

She's charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, battery, criminal damage to property in the second degree, willful obstruction, interference with government property, and disorderly conduct.

Officials say she also had an active arrest warrant from another jurisdiction.
