Bevo can't hook 'em in Atlanta, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl organizers announce

Bevo's invitation to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has been revoked. Organizers say there's no room for the Texas Longhorns live mascot at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The announcement was made ahead of the highly anticipated Colllege Football Playoff quartersemifinal game that will kick off in Atlanta on New Year's Day.

"We love all of the traditions of college football and no doubt, Bevo is one of the best, but the unfortunate reality is there simply is not enough room on the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium," a spokesperson said on X.

Fans immediately took to the comment section, posting "Free Bevo." This isn't the first time the popular longhorn steer has been sidelined.

Just a few weeks ago, Bevo was barred from the SEC championship game between Texas and Georgia at the same venue.

ESPN reported the problem then was the size of the enclosure needed to house the over 1,700-pound animal with a horn span of 58-inches.

The Peach Bowl spokesperson said it was a matter of "prioritizing the safety of Bevo, the players, all the network cameras, support staff, cheerleaders and photographers."
