Cobb County board vote to not raise property taxes
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted to keep the property tax millage rate the same.
Commissioners figured out a way to get the needed money from two sources, $4 million from the economic development contingency fund in this year's budget, and another $4 million slated for the 2018 budget.
Ahead of Tuesday's vote, Chairman Mike Boyce proposed for an increase, stating it's necessary to pay the bond for New Park Land. The increase would have equaled about $13 for a $250 home.
Residents complained that their property assessments have gone up, which would have meant the costs would be even more per person if the rate increased.
Boyce insisted the proposed increase had nothing to do with the new Braves Stadium and is all about the park’s bond.
