Multiple detained after fight, no shooting at Cumberland Mall, police say
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - There was an increased law enforcement presence at Cumberland Mall after Cobb County police officers were called to investigate a report of an active shooting.
When they arrived, the officers confirmed there was a "large physical altercation" but no indication of any shooting. There were also no victims found after a sweep of the premises. They called the original report "unfounded."
Multiple people were detained. It's not clear yet whether any of them will be charged.
This came Sunday evening as many people were out finishing up last-minute holiday shopping.
Officers asked nearby residents and shoppers to avoid the area until further notice.
