Race for Oscars gold is underway

In just a few weeks, nominations for the 97th Academy Awards will be announced. Paul Milliken had the chance to talk with many of the likely contenders over the year, and he takes a look back at who may be up for Hollywood's biggest prize.

Nominations for the 97th Academy Awards will be announced on Jan. 17, honoring the best films of 2024 — many of which we’ve featured here on Good Day Atlanta.

Oscar experts say some frontrunners for nominations this year include Timothée Chalamet as Best Actor for playing Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown," Kieran Culkin as Best Supporting Actor for this work in "A Real Pain," and Ariana Grande-Butera as Best Supporting Actress for "Wicked." "A Real Pain" is also tipped to score a nomination for Jesse Eisenberg’s screenplay, and "Wicked" is likely to show up in the Best Picture lineup and could also gain star Cynthia Erivo her second Best Actress Academy Award nomination.
