Deputies: Man falls asleep in vehicle he broke into
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - An Acworth man has been arrested after authorities said he stole from vehicles parked in a Cherokee County subdivision.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to the Tyson Woods neighborhood in Acworth around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday after reports of someone stealing from vehicles.
A deputy searched the subdivision and found a man sleeping in a vehicle in front of a home. The homeowner said the man, identified as 23-year-old Timothy Zacharie, didn't have permission to be in the vehicle.
According to investigators, Zacharie was found with credit cards, cash, gift cards and IDs of other residents in the neighborhood. Deputies believe Zacharie entered eight residents' unlocked vehicles before falling asleep in the final car.
The suspect was arrested and charged with eight counts of entering auto, one count of burglary and violation of probation. He was taken to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, where he remains without bond.
