Crews searching for victims after fire destroys Paulding County home
PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. - Paulding County firefighters searched for victims after flames leveled a home in the Hiram area on Thursday morning.
Crews continue to work at the scene along Nebo Road at Highway 92.
Officials told FOX 5 they got the call about the fire around 5:30 Thursday morning.
When they got to the scene, the building was fully engulfed and the roof quickly collapsed.
While officials believe the building was abandoned, firefighters are digging through the debris to check for any possible victims.
The fire shut down the highway in both directions while crews worked at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
