Fulton County's Dr. Mike Looney named 2025 Georgia Superintendent of the Year
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Fulton County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has been named 2025's Superintendent of the Year.
The award was announced earlier in December at the annual conference of the Georgia School Superintendents Association.
Looney was chosen out of superintendents from 180 of the state's school districts.
Fulton County Schools said the recognition was a testament to Looney's "unwavering commitment, vision, and leadership within our district."

At a recent school board meeting, Looney thanked the community for the nomination, calling it a "team award."
The other three finalists were Brantley County's Kim Morgan, McDuffie County's Mychele Rhodes, and Cartersville City's Marc Feuerbach.
As the winning choice, Looney will compete for the 2025 National Superintendent at the American Association of School Administrators conference in New Orleans in March.
