Katt Williams pleads no contest to charges, banned from 2 counties

ATLANTA - Comedian Katt Williams has been banned from two north Georgia counties. It's part of a plea deal reached in a case that was the beginning of a year of legal troubles for Williams.

Hall County Assistant District Attorney Ray Mayer says based on the number of run-ins Williams has had with the law, he is now banned in Hall and Dawson counties.

The comedian, whose real name is Micah Sierra Williams, was charged in March after authorities said he threatened a bodyguard while an acquaintance beat him with a baseball bat. Williams was charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, terroristic threats, simple battery and drug charges.

"Most of the charges were reduced to misdemeanors or dismissed, the marijuana case is being dealt with as a conditional discharge," said Findling.

Williams was ordered to pay the former bodyguard $7,500 in restitution and perform 100 hours of community service. As for the banishment from Hall and Dawson counties, his attorney said it's no big deal.

"The banishment isn't an issue. He had already stopped living in the county and moved from the house he was leasing.  His home is a place for a temporary respite and other than that he's on the move," said Findling.

Findling said his client is happy to have all this behind him and get on with the show.

"He's Katt Williams. He has a 100 city tour, he wakes up Tuesday and has to be in L-A for a concert, then jump to San Francisco and get to Cleveland on Saturday," said Findling.
