Person hit by MARTA train at downtown Atlanta's Garnett Station
ATLANTA - MARTA temporarily shut down operations at one of its downtown Atlanta stations early Friday morning to investigate a collision involving one of its trains.
MARTA officials confirmed with FOX 5 that a train heading northbound "made contact" with a person at Garnett Station on Peachtree Street around 5 a.m.
Officials have not released information about how the crash happened or the condition of the individual.
Rail power was turned off at the station so that MARTA police could investigate the crash.
Bus transportation was temporarily provided between Oakland City and Five Points. However, that was discontinued shortly after 7 a.m. when power was restored to the station.
Updates on train service can be found on MARTA's X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
