GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A Gwinnett County police officer shot a man who allegedly pointed a gun at him while he was responding to a 911 call overnight.
Gwinnett Police tell FOX 5 that a call came into the county's 911 center around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. The caller reported hearing gunshots coming from a home on the 3600 block of Holland Drive.
When police got to the scene, they reportedly heard arguing coming from the house.
As the officers were preparing to go up to the home, officials say a man walked out the front door armed with a handgun.
According to investigators, a uniformed officer standing in the home's front yard identified himself, and the man immediately pointed a gun at the officer.
The officer fired one shot, hitting the man.

Medics rushed the man to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries and face charges. Officials have not released the man's identity.
The Gwinnett County Police Department's Deadly Force Investigation Team is looking into the shooting.
Officials have not shared details about the confrontation inside the home that originally called officers to the scene.
