A shooting involving a Roswell police officer at a car dealership off Holcomb Bridge Road is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

It happened shortly after midnight Wednesday at the Regal Nissan in the 1000 block of Holcomb Bridge Road.

Authorities say Bell approached the officer's patrol car before the officer exited the vehicle. A confrontation ensued, during which Bell reportedly charged at the officer.

Roswell Police said the officer attempted to subdue Bell using a Taser, but the device was ineffective. The situation escalated, leading the officer to fire one shot, striking Bell.

Responding officers provided first aid until medics arrived and transported Bell to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition as of the latest update. No officers were injured in the incident.

The GBI, which was called in to ensure an independent investigation, confirmed that the findings would be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office for review once the investigation is complete.

In the aftermath of the incident, eastbound Holcomb Bridge Road between Dogwood Road and Old Dogwood Road was closed to allow investigators to process the scene, but the roadways have since been reopened.

The GBI’s statement noted that its investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details, including the officer's identity, have been released at this time.
