Parent Arrested for Bringing Gun to Avondale Elementary School

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A parent was arrested Monday morning after bringing a gun onto the campus of Avondale Elementary School, authorities said.

The school was placed on lockdown immediately and the suspect, identified as Jeffery Delaney, was taken into custody. The lockdown was lifted about 30 minutes later.

Delaney faces charges of criminal trespass, possession of a gun on campus and disruption of a school. School officials say the gun was tucked into Delaney's pants when he came onto school property at 7:10 a.m. Monday.
