Gas leak may have led to explosion, Paulding County house fire, investigators say

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. - Investigators are working to determine what caused an explosion and house fire in Paulding County over the weekend.
What we know:
Paulding County Fire and Rescue received multiple calls about a home exploding on Paces Meadows Lane Saturday night.
The house was damaged and on fire when the first fire engine got to the scene.
The crews were able to quickly contain the flames and put out the fire without incident. Luckily, no one was inside the home at the time.
What we don't know:
While fire crews are suspecting this was the work of a gas leak, that has not been confirmed by evidence.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the explosion.

Despite the uncertainty, the Paulding County Fire and Rescue team wants residents to remain vigilant.
"If you suspect a gas leak of any kind, immediately evacuate the area," a spokesperson for the department said. "Once evacuated, call 911."
