Person of interest detained in deadly shooting in SW Atlanta

ATLANTA - Authorities have a person of interest detained after a deadly shooting of a 19-year-old in southwest Atlanta on Thursday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 9L40 p.m. on the 200 block of Richardson Street.

What we know:

According to police, officers arrived at the scene and found a 19-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

The man died before medics could take him to the hospital.

Police detained a person of interest and questioned them on Thursday night. Officials tell FOX 5 that they believe the victim and the person of interest knew each other.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not released the name of the victim or the person of interest.

Detectives are working to learn what led up to the deadly violence.
