Police: 2 people dead in Stone Mountain shooting
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Two people are dead after a shooting at a Stone Mountain apartment complex Wednesday afternoon, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.
The shooting happened at the 13 Ten Apartments located in the 4900 block of Russwood Avenue, police said, and both victims were taken to the hospital. Officers announced later that they had died.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene about 4:30 p.m. and spotted multiple police officers inside the apartment complex.
During the investigation, officers discovered a unit with what they called "possible hazardous materials".
Surrounding apartments were evacuated, while the fire department and a hazmat team checked it out.
Authorities determined the air quality to be safe, but police said they found evidence that suggests the two victims were involved in possible drug activity.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Details regarding a suspect or suspects were not immediately known.
