Police: one man dead after shooting in Buford

BUFORD, Ga. - Police in Gwinnett County have a made an arrest in a deadly shooting in downtown Buford Tuesday afternoon.

Jerome Daniel Colvin, 34, of Auburn, Ga., was arrested and charged with felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault.

Gwinnett County Police said they responded to a call of an active shooter at the intersection of South Lee Street and West Main Street around 12:10 p.m. Officers said they found Allen Craig Willard Jr., 25, of Suwanee, dead in the middle of the roadway.

Police were quickly able to determine this was a shooting stemming from a dispute and took Colvin into custody.

Police say the two men knew each other, but it's currently unclear what led to the dispute.
