The shooting happened late Tuesday night in the City Market area. Police said officers began chasing a vehicle just after the shooting. That chase ended in a crash near the shooting scene.
Savannah police have released little information, but it appears that the three people who were killed died as a result of the crash.
Four people were injured by gunfire. Three shooting victims were found at the scene, police said. Officers said the extent of their injuries was unclear. A fourth shooting victim went to the hospital in a private vehicle. Police described that person's injuries as "non-life-threatening."
Authorities said one person was taken into custody and will be charged with three counts of felony murder.
