Polk County police officer shoots, critically wounds man
POLK COUNTY, Ga. - A man was shot by police officers who were investigating a report of a fight at a Polk County home on Tuesday afternoon, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says.
Flint Dawson Warren, 63, was injured and rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say around 1:15 p.m., officers got to the home located in the 1200 block of Pleasant Hill Road.
A witness tells the GBI Warren reached for a gun in his waist. An officer fired his gun, striking Warren, the GBI says.
No one else was injured.
The GBI has been asked to investigate the use of force by the officer. This will be the state agency’s 41st such investigation this year.
