Man hit by gunfire crashes into Snellville home
The Snellville homeowner described the moment he heard gunshots and then felt a car smash into his living room.
SNELLVILLE, Ga. - The search is on for a gunman who shot a driver to death in a Snellville neighborhood on Sunday.
Investigators say the victim was behind the wheel of a car when the deadly shooting happened and rammed the vehicle into a house.
What we know:
Snellville police say neighbors recalled hearing gunshots in the area of Englewood Way near Long Street on Sunday. Shortly after, a car crashed into a home.
Witnesses say the victim was still talking after the crash, but he wasn't able to survive his injuries.
Officials asked residents to avoid the area while they investigate.
What they're saying:
When the shots rang out late Sunday afternoon, Mason Watkins was upstairs in his home playing video games.
"I heard three little bangs," Watkins said.
Shortly afterward, Watkins was shocked when the victim's car rammed into his home.
"I hear one big bang and my whole house shakes, and I'm like 'What was that?' he said. "Either someone hit my house or a bomb exploded."
The Snellville man looked down the stairs and saw his belongings scattered all over the place.
"I was like, 'I'm not going down there because I heard gunshots," he said.

Watkins sister wasn't home at the time, but she told FOX 5 that she and her two little kids would likely have been in the room that the car hit if they were.
"We play, we sit in that living area and God forbid we were there," Tiffani Mann said.
What we don't know:
There has been no word yet on any suspects.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim or described what happened before the shots were fired.
