Streetcar officials hold disaster drill

ATLANTA - Smoke and sirens in Downtown Atlanta Wednesday morning.

It was all part of a drill to prepare Atlanta emergency workers for a possible streetcar disaster.

The morning drill scenario involved a fire at the vehicle maintenance facility on Auburn Avenue.

That is where the streetcar fleet and staff are housed.

Planners designed it to make sure emergency notification systems work properly and workers can respond quickly to possible disasters.
