"Clean Old-Fashioned Hate" is now happening one day early this year.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have announced their annual rivalry game will be played on Black Friday for the second year in a row.

The backstory:

The longtime rivalry has led to heated battles between the two teams for over a century.

Last year, Georgia Tech announced the 2025 game would be played at 75,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium instead of at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

It will be the first time since Georgia Tech's stadium opened in 1913 that the rivalry won't be played at a campus site. Georgia’s Sanford Stadium opened in 1929, and the game has rotated annually between those two facilities ever since.

"We know that some of you may be apprehensive that Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate will be played off-campus," Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt wrote in a letter to fans. "Please know that we understand that concern and know that this was not a decision that was made lightly."

Last year's game was a nail-biter, with the Bulldogs winning 44-42 after eight overtimes. It was the longest game in SEC history and just one overtime shy of the record for any FBS game — Illinois’ 20-18 victory over Penn State in 2021 that went to nine extra periods.

While considered a Georgia Tech home game, the Georgia contest will not be part of the Yellow Jackets season-ticket package.

What's next:

The kickoff time for this year's match will be released at a later date.
