6 people arrested after drug deal ends in shooting at metro Atlanta cemetery, police say
WINDER, Ga. - Six people have been arrested in connection to a shooting at a Winder cemetery that sent a woman to the hospital.
The shooting happened on the afternoon of Jan. 3 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, officials said.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call on Candler Street and found a 19-year-old woman in a vehicle who had been shot. Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital for treatment. Her current condition is unknown.
Investigators say the situation began with the driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Owen Sudduth, going to meet several men in the cemetery to sell marijuana.
During the sale, Sudduth told officers that the men tried to rob him at gunpoint.
As the 19-year-old drove off, one of the men reportedly fired a gun. The bullet hit the victim, who was sitting in the backseat.
After searching the area, officers found five suspects they believed were connected with the shooting.
The suspects, who include 17-year-old Keishod Hunt, two 14-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, were charged with aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery. Sudduth is also charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. If you have any information that could help, call the Winder Police Department or the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.
