Avalon hosts night of fashion, fun & fundraising

What’s the happiest place on earth?  Walt Disney World, of course. But Avalon in Alpharetta will be a close second this week, as a group of very special models takes over the runway for a night of fashion, fun, and fundraising.

Avalon will host the 5th Annual Noon to Night: Fall Fashion Benefit this Thursday, September 19th, in partnership with Bert’s Big Adventure

You’ve probably heard all about the amazing work done by Bert’s Big Adventure, but in case you haven’t, the non-profit was established back in 2002 by Bert Weiss of “The Bert Show,” and takes kids with terminal and chronic illnesses and their families on an all-expenses-paid trip to Walt Disney World.  Along with these magical adventures, the organization serves families year-round with its various programs.

Of course, it takes money to send kids and their families to Walt Disney World for five days, and that’s where events like Noon to Night come in.

The show features Bert’s Big Adventure kids, along with local celebrities and professional models, strutting down the runway and showing off the hottest new looks available at Avalon’s retailers.  The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception, continues with the “Fund the Need” fundraiser at 7:30 p.m., and culminates in the fashion show at 8:00 p.m.

For the real night owls among you, there’s also a post-show reception featuring drinks and a live DJ.

General admission tickets for Noon to Night: Fall Fashion Benefit at Avalon are $50, and are available for purchase here.

I must admit…it was a little surprising when a certain member of the Good Day Atlanta feature team was asked to serve as a celebrity model.  But how could I turn down a chance to hang out with the Bert’s Big Adventure kids and show off my signature runway walk?  So, we spent the morning at Avalon getting in a final fitting before the big night — click the video player above to watch!
