A late night house fire injures all eight occupants, including five children.

It happened on Franklin-Goldmine Road in Cherokee County.

Before firefighters arrived, the mother searched frantically to round up all the kids and try to get them out of the structure. That mom broke out a window to carry those children out. She also got burned.

The youngest, 18 months old and the oldest who is 8, sustained critical burns. All the children are in Atlanta hospitals being cared for.

Cherokee County Fire Division Chief Danny West said it is too early to say what caused the fire. An aunt speculated the fire may have come from a wood burning stove. The entire structure is made of wood. It was fully involved. Not much is left of it.
