81-year-old Cherokee County woman killed in crash involving tractor-trailer
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - An 81-year-old woman was killed Monday evening in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Cherokee County.
The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Cumming Highway and Soleil Parkway. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a Lexus sedan traveling east on Cumming Highway attempted to turn left into the Soleil subdivision when it was struck by a westbound tractor-trailer.
The passenger in the sedan, identified as 81-year-old Bonnie Moore of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sedan’s driver was transported to Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Investigators say neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash. Preliminary findings suggest the sedan’s driver failed to yield to the oncoming tractor-trailer.
The case remains under investigation.
