What comes up must come down.

Families in Grant Park made some frightening discoveries of what fell onto their roofs: bullets and even bullet holes left behind.

"The common issue we have around here-- people shooting into the air," said Kiet Nguyen, who showed FOX 5 a bullet he found in his roof overhang, after he went to check out a leak.

"I saw something shiny on the roof and saw a little brass. I got a bullet," Nguyen said.

Other neighbors told FOX 5 they've also discovered bullet holes in their roof, after discovering a leak.

Kiet Nguyen and his wife, Nganha Dang, believe the bullets may have come from celebratory gunfire while people rang in the New Year.

"I heard fireworks, gunshots... a lot [of them], Dang said. “We have kids at home, too."

The family is grateful no bullets entered their home to hurt their kids and other relatives, but have a strong message for anyone who shoots into the air for fun.

"Light a firecracker. Light a firework. It's cheaper and safer. [A bullet] could kill someone!" Nguyen said.
