FBI seeks serial armed dollar store robber

ATLANTA - The FBI wants your help to track down a serial armed robber who they say is responsible for seven robberies in a little more than a week.

Investigators say the man targeted Dollar Stores in three different metro Atlanta counties.

They say the suspect is armed and they want to identify him before he becomes even more dangerous.

According to the FBI, the man's crime spree started at a Family Dollar in Conyers on July 20. Then he hit six other stores in a matter of just days, from Rockdale County to Fulton County to Clayton County.

The latest robbery happened at a Family Dollar on Tara Boulevard on July 28.

"It's a lot of robberies in a very short time," FBI Public Affairs Specialist Kevin Rowson. "He's specifically targeting dollar stores--Family Dollars and Dollar Generals." 

Rowson says the man usually walks into the store, grabs a small item like a candy bar or drink, approaches the register like he's going to buy the item, and instead robs the cashier at gunpoint.

"That's one of the things we're a little bit puzzled by is he's done these seven robberies in little over a week time back in July and it's been a couple months since then and we haven't heard from him or at least we haven't known about him," Rowson explained. "You know, whether he's changed his MO, whether he's been arrested on something unrelated, we don't know.  But if he is out there, with the frequency that he did hit, we know that he will hit again and we want to catch him before something happens in one of these robberies that turns violent." 

The FBI hopes someone will recognize the man and contact them or Crime Stoppers before he can target anyone else.

"He's armed, he's dangerous.  We're worried about something happening," Rowson said. "We've been lucky so far nothing has happened. So, we're hoping to get him identified as soon as possible."

• July 21, 2018 at the Dollar General, 2779 Lakewood Ave. SW, Atlanta, GA
• July 23, 2018 at the Family Dollar, 674 Highway 138, Riverdale, GA
• July 24, 2018 at the Family Dollar, 1245 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Mableton, GA
• July 26, 2018 at the Dollar General, 286 Highway 138, Riverdale, GA
• July 27, 2018 at the Family Dollar, 830 SR-138, Jonesboro, GA
• July 28, 2018 at the Family Dollar, 7132 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, GA

Investigators believe the man drove a silver Dodge Avenger and a white Honda Accord to get to the stores.
