Floyd County escaped inmate recaptured

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. - An inmate who escaped from his work detail Monday morning was recaptured late Monday evening.

Officials said that Floyd County inmate Sean Powell left his work detail at Rome's Eastview Cemetery Monday morning.

Powell ran away from the detail wearing his white prison outfit.

The Warden told FOX 5 News around 9:30 p.m. Monday that Powell was back behind bars.

The circumstances surrounding his recapture have not yet been released.

It was not immediately clear what additional charges Powell will face.
