Festivals of Speed

Avalon; 400 Avalon Boulevard, Alpharetta

If you've got a need for speed, this festival is perfect for you. Check out the world's most exotic cars, motorcycles, and luxury brands on display at Avalon. You'll see both vintage and contemporary hot rods here. The event is free, but the website says you do need to RSVP here to get an access pass for entry.

One Music Fest

Central Park, Renaissance Park and the Civic Center; 501 Piedmont Avenue NE, Atlanta

12 p.m. - 10 p.m. Oct. 9

Are you ready for day two of the Southeast's 'largest, urban progressive music festival'? Lil Baby, Jazmine Sullivan, Doug E Fresh and more are scheduled to rock the stage. You can still purchase tickets here.

Georgia State Fair

Atlanta Motor Speedway; 1500 Tara Place, Hampton

11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Oct. 9

The fair is in town. Get ready for live music, exciting rides, and all of your favorite fair food. Check out the military appreciation discount at the virtual ticket booth.

Chalktoberfest

Marietta Cobb Museum of Art; 30 Atlanta Street SE, Marietta

10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Oct. 9

Marietta's annual Chalk Art Festival meets the Craft Beer Festival. At Chalktoberfest, you can enjoy a cold one while professional chalk artists paint the streets with unique designs. Organizers say it's a great opportunity to get the family out and about. The Chalk Art Festival is free for all. If you plan to drink, you can find tickets here.

Pitbull: Can't Stop Us Now Tour

Ameris Bank Amphitheatre; 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta

Mr. Worldwide is taking over Atlanta for one night. Check out the Grammy award-winning rapper in concert. Tickets are on sale here.

Stone Mountain Highland Games and Scottish Festival

Stone Mountain Park; 1000 Robert E. Lee Boulevard, Stone Mountain

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Oct. 15 - Oct. 16

Join a celebration of history and culture at the Stone Mountain Highland Games and Scottish Festival. The weekend is decked out with dancers, drummers, fiddlers and of course bag pipes. For more information, check out the Highland Games' official website.

Intro to Tree Climbing

Panola Mountain State Park; 2620 Highway 155 SW, Stockbridge

1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Oct. 15 - Oct. 16

If you're itching to get outside and enjoy the crisp fall air, head out to Panola Mountain State Park for the weekend and learn how to use a rope and harness to climb trees. Organizers say this event is available to anyone ages 8 and up. All you have to do is call the Nature Center at 770-389-7801 to register.

Adventure Cubs

Zoo Atlanta; 800 Cherokee Avenue, Atlanta

Oct. 18

Take your cubs, ages 0-5, on an adventure they'll never forget. Zoo Atlanta wants to get your little ones moving and learning about new animals around the world. This month's lesson is all about ‘Silly Sloths’.

Avalon Nights Live

Awaken your inner Robin Hood with an hour-long archery class. You don't even need equipment, everything will be provided for you. Close-toed shoes are required and organizer recommend arriving 15 minutes early.

Dinosaurs take over the mall for the kid-friendly, walk-through exhibit. Tickets are $19 for kids and adults. 

Pumpkin Festival: Play by Day, Glow by Night

2 p.m. - 9 p.m. Every Sunday through Oct. 30

It's a park by day, and a light show by night. Take an adventure through some of your favorite classic storybook tales in 10 new themed areas with immersive light displays and huge carved pumpkins. This not-so-spooky event is perfect for family or date night.

Fright Fest
