Unidentified man killed while crossing Cobb County street on Monday
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Dec. 23 at approximately 9:41 p.m. on C.H. James Parkway, west of its intersection with Florence Road.
According to a preliminary report from the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) Unit, an unidentified male pedestrian was crossing C.H. James Parkway outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a black 2017 Nissan Maxima. The vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old female from Powder Springs, was traveling westbound in the left lane at the time of the collision.
The impact redirected the pedestrian, who came to rest partially in both westbound lanes of the roadway. The Nissan came to a controlled stop in the center median.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office. His identity remains unknown, and no next of kin has been notified. The driver of the Nissan was not reported to have sustained injuries.
