Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey appoints director for state agency
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Kay Ivey has appointed a new director of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
The governor announced Friday that Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell would fill the position.
Ivey said in a press release that Boswell's record of courting investments and adding jobs in the city of Enterprise makes him a good fit for the role.
Ivey says he has increased his city's financial reserves and improved its credit rating since becoming mayor in 2003.
The department manages federal grant dollars and oversees infrastructure projects in the state.
Boswell will officially begin as director on May 15. He replaces Jim Byard.
